The Second Annual Van Jones Shrimp Boil was pretty epic. I made too much food again. I ate too much food again. We are lucky to have a great community and we are blessed to have the means to throw a party once in a while. With an excellent playlist.

This Independence Day is pretty complicated given the antediluvian swing in our society toward authoritarianism, fundamentalism, repression, and science denial. But part of the array of choices in a democracy is to destroy democracy. And that’s pretty hard to come back from when it’s a deliberate party-over-country strategy that gets it done. Everybody make sure they have the same number of fingers and toes after this one.
