LIVE SKULL @ recordBAR

I never saw Live Skull back in the day so it was lucky to get to see them last night in KC at recordBAR. I expected it to be noisier and heavier than it was, but it was really one of the best two-guitar shows I’ve seen in a long time, bringing to mind Television, Sonic Youth, Dream Syndicate, even Crazy Horse—meshing and twining guitars with some blowouts, but not the No-Wave sound bomb I expected. I picked up a copy of their most recent platter.

Steve’s new project Violenteer was a massive two-bass and drums tidal wave with Steve vocalizing and working found samples—reminded me of Sunn O))) at times.
