AN EXCELLENT TRIP

We had an excellent trip to Portland and I was lucky enough to play a couple of kind of unplugged shows with old instigators Dave Snider and Derek Trost, the Marky Ramone of snare and brushes. As most people know, more than one show but less than four shows is a tourlet. I hauled far more vinyl out in my carry-on than was needed, LOL.

Cleo and I got to stay in our studio and did a lot of walking in Portland, and also got to see The Young Fresh Fellows Saturday night. They did not disappoint.

@ Havalina PDX, on their one year anniversary.

The one and only Tom Heinl, slaying again. I owe Tom a tape of weird songs. That gives me a sense of mission that goes back about twenty years.

Peter Wilde and his excellent combo playing tunes off his new record Natural Disasters. Our friend Bill rides with a John Prine cd box set on his dashboard, and I made sure to get a copy for him.

Is it going to rain? Do I need a sweater? Should I wear shorts?

Spotted this Ash Grove Cement terminal out on a walk and thought of my dad, who used to travel out this way for work.

A short walk from our pad, somehow did not manage to get a reuben—next time.

Made a trip to Powell’s and read in their cafe, Questlove’s Music Is History. A book to re-read and re-absorb. This playlist is a great companion to it. I spent yesterday with a Bomb Squad playlist and got so jacked I had to put on a Royals podcast for the come down.

Young Fresh Fellows @ Mississippi Studios, so fun. Scott’s one of my alltime favorite songwriters.
