2024 PLAYLIST

It is the season for editorializing about the merits and pitfalls of Spotify. I mainly use Spotify to keep a playlist of vinyl, cds, downloads, and cassettes I’ve purchased over the year. This practice is quaint compared to the wholesale abandonment of artists by people who should be buying music…but I do buy music, more than ever. It’s weird when you want to turn a youngster on to new music and the only thing you can do is send a Youtube link. Efficient, in a way.

Anyway, I’m in the process of listening through the list and it was a good year for tunes.

One record that I knew in passing but that now blows me away is Thomas Dolby’s The Golden Age of Wireless. “Cloudburst” and “Airwaves” are both lovely songs.
