SUNDAY MATINEE

I had an impromptu solo show last night at The Replay in Lawrence, with my friend Scot’s band Tick Check. We had a Squid member feeling poorly (very poorly) so I cut out a few slammers and added a couple of oldies. Really enjoyed playing in that mode, using my Gretsch Synchromatic archtop through Scot’s half stack. The JHS Clover pre-amp pedal makes for a nice acoustic pre-amp (bonus).

Alcohol in bars doesn’t make me angsty at this point. I had some tacos from across the street after I played, with my patented lemonade and Diet Coke, and listened to Tick Check play joyful rock and roll. Driving without alcohol in my system is so dandy. Home by 9:30 to do some PT exercises for my rotator/shoulder muscle groups, oh so civilized.

I’ve seen a lot of band stickers in a lot of toilets over the years. This is one that inspires me to look up the band and go see their show.
