SCI FI NOVEMBER
Last month I pursued a serious Shocktober reading program. The Book of M by Peng Shepherd was both speculative and scary, which transitioned me into sci-fi November. That led to the classic Stranger In A Strange Land, which I read a couple of times at least, growing up.
My pal Mark gave me this edition a while back. It is the restored version, or the author's cut. More sex? More social commentary? Both? Re-reading it there's a playful hardboiled tone that I didn't get as a kid--great slang. If you go to The Majestic in downtown KC you'll see Heinlein in their mural of locals. That was news to me.
Maybe I'll continue the childhood theme, reading books I read and re-read as a kid: Danny The Champion of The World, Last of The Mohicans, Mad Ducks and Bears, Lord of The Rings...
