MUSIC FOR THE FILM: THE THINGS WE TELL THE ONES WE LOVE
"Riding In The Pocket of Time" was the first tune I worked on for Eliza Fox and Matt Wilkins' film The Things We Tell The Ones We Love. It took a while to get the feel of the lyrics right--what do you tell your kids in a zombie apocalypse?
Riding In The Pocket of Time
We’re gonna live forever
our street corner in amber
and my hat blows off again
We’re gonna walk together
on cobblestones in fall
you will be ten foot tall
we’re gonna live together
our hobby village is lit up
and snow is in the leaves
in the street
big and tiny feet
and your hand in mine
and we’re riding in the pocket of time
we’re gonna sing together
the birds will quiet down
and trains will let off those we love
All going out together
In the town along the river
Where the ice explodes at night
Why wait around forever
Someday maybe has arrived
And we are in the know
in the street
big and tiny fight
and your hand in mine
and we’re riding in the pocket of time
I let go of things
With you underneath my wing
I’m always gonna sing
Through January weather into spring
We’re gonna walk together
on cobblestones in fall
you will be ten foot tall
We’re gonna live forever
our street corner in amber
and my hat blows off again
(and again and again and again)
