RECORDS I AIN'T HEARD COMMUTE WEEK
It's RECORDS I AIN'T HEARD COMMUTE WEEK this week. I followed up Gurrumul with this King Crimson live set from 2017. This is a great overview of all phases of King Crimson, and listening to Robert Fripp is a blast. I favor the heavier stuff and would enjoy a power trio record with a rhythm section of Rob Wright and Bill Stevenson, but that's just me.
I followed that up with Jefferson Airplane Takes Off. Every college house party I ever went to had a CD copy of Surrealistic Pillow with it's worn-out FM standards on it. I enjoyed this record, especially the way Signe Toly Anderson (of Portland, Oregon) wanders in on only a couple of songs and demolishes the sad-sack lover vibe. [Editor's note, my buddy Scott schooled me on Signe Toly Anderson because I had assumed it was Grace Slick]. It's funny how artists are over-serious and controlling and allow little changes and slips and fun stuff, then pull back. The 12-string work is cool.
