ARTHOUSE DOWNTIME

I loved The Host and Okja and Snowpiercer so I backtracked to this director's debut film. It was pretty hard-going because of the violence to dogs and the generally depressed and alienated tone. That won't keep me from keep checking out other films by Bong Joon-Ho. And reading up on it, I learned about the Korean New Wave, which I hadn't really heard of.

I'm giving FilmStruck streaming Roku channel a try--it has a selection of curated arthouse films every month, as well as access to the Criterion Channel with the premium subscription.

We also picked a peck of peppers and went on a wild goose chase with Pixie Paloma Van Jones.
