YARDWORK AND BOOKS AND AN EASTER EGG
VAGUELY NUCLEAR EASTER EGG |
Mucho yard work yesterday--beds turned, snap peas and beans planted. I mowed and re-seeded spots in the yard, all while listening to Howard Zinn's People's History of The United States. Stories that must be told and history that must be known--but listening to it has been like eating a case of Grape Nuts without milk.
In contrast I'm reading Blood's A Rover by James Ellroy, a blast of underworld mayhem. I caught a few innings of the Royals game at Mike's Tavern and read during the commercials.
There are books you make yourself read and there are books you carry up to a bar and read during commercials while your team is on its way to a third consecutive win.
